I have been studying the Martial Arts for 28 years now (since the age of 8). I have studied such arts as Tae Kwan Do under Master Shorty Kirby, and Tang Soo Do and Boxing under Master Timothy Riley. I am a certified Hapkido instructor under Grand Master John Pellergrini’s Combat Hapkido Federation. I am a certified instructor of the United States Amateur Boxing Inc., and a certified Jeet Kune Do Ground Self-Defense Instructor under Master Alan Ground (a former student of Rorin Gracie). I am also a certified Wing Chun instructor under Master Randy Williams and Sifu Wayne Jackson of the Close Range Combat Academies.
I became a full-instructor in Jeet Kune Do in Bruce Lee’s JKD under a former instructor of mine (The Head of the SDS/JKD Organization) and was a member for over 11 years. I am currently certified in JKD under Bruce Lee’s China Town student, Sifu Jerry Poteet. I am constantly being mentored by Ted Wong (Bruce Lee’s last major student), whom I have befriended. I have studied many years through the seminar circuit under such recognizable and notable instructors as Dan Lee, Steve Golden, Tommy Gong, Jerry Beasley, Joe Lewis and Dan Inosanto.
I have dedicated myself to studying and researching the original Jeet Kune Do teachings as taught by Bruce Lee himself. I have been awarded the title of 2002 Master Instructor of the year by World Head of Family Sokeship Council. In 2006 I was awarded with the Outstanding Achievement Award by Budo International Magazine.
I am not someone who wants to capitalize from Bruce Lee’s name or art form. I believe in Bruce’s approach to training and development on the Martial Arts and I firmly believe in his philosophy on life itself. I will continue to train with every original student of Bruce Lee’s, as much as possible, and bring life and uphold the integrity of JKD as developed by Sigung Bruce Lee.
Sincerely,
Master Sifu Andre’ Parker
